Paul von Hindenburg was a German military and statesman, born on October 2nd, 1847. This date recall is not without reason. There happens to be some disturbing connection between this 1932 overprint and the Field Marshal. This blind drop merges with a red ribbon. It turns out that the first ribbon overprint is red. It is on a stamp of Württemberg of 1874.
It also exists in Prussian blue. The Prussian blue is first of all a pigment. The association of this country with blue, is also manifested in the military field. During the reign of Frederick William I, during which Diesbach produced the pigment, the uniforms of the Prussian army changed from white and black to blue and white (for the line infantry regiments). Surprisingly, after the 1930s, I did not find any more. Marshal Von Hindenburg died on August 2nd, 1934.
