D48 est bien une oblitération militaire. Il s'agit du quartier général à Nicosie. Le D48 est répertorié sur Rose-Red 1870-79 de 1/2 d., Rose-Red 1864-79 1d. et le 2d Blue 1858-1869.
Ce timbre n'a pas dû voir Nicosie mais plus probablement Londres. Le cachet D48 avec barres fines était un cachet pour journaux et "courrier vrac". Il arrive à Chypre en Janvier 1881. L'établissement des Anglais ne date que de 1878 avec le traité de Berlin.
D'ailleurs en relisant le document je pense qu'une meilleur traduction de "courrier vrac" serait "envoi en nombre" dans le système postal moderne.

This stamp may not have seen Nicosia but more likely London. The D48 stamp with fine bars was a stamp for newspapers and "bulk mail". He arrived in Cyprus in January 1881. The establishment of the English dates only from 1878 with the Treaty of Berlin.
By the way, I think that a better translation of "vrac mail" would be "bulk mail" in the modern postal system.
